Fraunhofer Innovation Cluster - Future Security BW
Research
More than ever, our society is threatened by international terrorism and organized crime. In addition, more and more frequent and impressive natural disasters and major accidents show its vulnerability.
The innovation cluster “Future Security BW” aims to meet these threats by developing innovative technological products and services in order to improve the security and protection of the population and of critical infrastructure.
For the realization of this common goal, businesses, research institutes and universities of Baden-Württemberg and beyond have bundled their competences in the field of civil security research by establishing the innovation cluster “Future Security BW”.
The partners carry out their research on two complementary levels: the natural sciences develop technologies and products while the humanities analyze issues that arise from the application of security technologies and their acceptance in the population.
The innovation cluster serves for the linkage and the joint acquisition of projects with the focus on application-oriented development. It refers directly to
- The European security research program
- The national security research program
- The Fraunhofer innovation topic “Security – security through high tech”
- The high-tech strategy of the German federal government
Baden-Württemberg is home to innovative, adaptable and internationally successful companies in the fields of sensor technology, electronics, micro system technology, building industry and life sciences. The innovation cluster links these businesses with research partners. The universities of Freiburg, Karlsruhe, Stuttgart and Tübingen as well as several renowned research institutes contribute comprehensive know-how and, for their part, profit from the cooperation with the companies.
The central goals are implemented in four main focal areas (FA).
